Hi! We are Marek and Inês, a Dutch-Portuguese couple based in Portugal and the duo behind Marvellous Madeira. (Also pictured: 👶 bebê Isabel, senior explorer.)
It’s our goal to create an in-depth resource that will help you plan your trip to Madeira. We live in Lisbon and love visiting Madeira so much that we decided to start a site about the islands.
Marek has previously been blogging for over 10 years at Indie Traveller, a site covering adventure travel around the world.
The Marvellous Madeira logo is based on the Strelitzia or “bird of paradise” flower, which is an official symbol of Madeira. While you’re exploring Madeira, you will no doubt often see many of these orange flowers.
How the blog makes money
We earn an income with this blog by including affiliate links to accommodations, car rentals, and a couple of other useful sites. These let us earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
What we love about affiliate links is that we can recommend or un-recommend anything at any time (without even speaking to any of the companies involved), giving us complete editorial freedom. We only link something when we think it will be of value to you, the reader.
